 Ghandruk Village Tour: Motorbike Ride Guide 

Motorbike riding has always been one of the best way of exploring new places . The great scenery of the hills & mountains, open wide tarmac of the terai & thrilling dirt trails make nepal,a desirable destination for Adventure bike riding . Looking back at the records the number of motorcycle tours in Nepal has been increasing every year.

Ghandruk is a traditional Gurung community based VDC [ Village Development Comittee ] located in Kaski district under Ganaki State of Western Nepal. Ghandruk offers a perfect blend of natural beauty offering the majestic view of Annapurna mountains and a mesmarising sunset & sunrise view and culture traditional stone built houses, local nepali foods, unique dress,dances and songs along with simplistic lifestyle of the gurungs.is attracting both local & international visitors . Trekking and Motorbike Ride are the popular means of travel for many young tourists as Ghandruk is very near to Pokhara valley pokhara making a easy place for short easy treks and Bike rides.

Itlineary:

Day 1 : Kathmandu to Pokhara 

- First you need to reach Pokhara city in Kaski District of Western Nepal . Majority of international visitors land in Tribhunvan International Airpot  at Kathmandu [ only running international airpot now in nepal ] after you land in kathmandu you need to get to pokhara it's a 5/7 hours of drive or 30 mins by air to Pokhara domestic airpot.

Day 2:  Pokhara to Ghandruk

  - After you reach the beautiful city of pokhara [ One of the Tourism Epicenter of nepal ] your Motor ride starts first upto nayapul lumle [ 40km from Pokhara ] 1hr of ride. Then From Nayapul head right on the road to Dhampus which is also about 1/2 hr  of ride you can easily see Map boards or any local about the route . You can see location in maps after nayapool so you have to rely on local people for the route better to get yourself a tour guide.

Day 3 & Day 4: Explore Ghandruk Village & Return back to Pokhara

- Things to do in Ghandruk:

1) Walk through Old Ghandruk

- You  can see beautiful stone build houses reflecting outstanding architecture of the nepal. Small houses made and arranged gracefully which are made nearly 200 years ago. You get to experience a different world far better than the crowd and conjusted buildings of the cities. Donkeys and Horses carry goods and people , stone made foot path and many more.

2) Visit Old Gurung Museum and Wear Gurung Dress.

- The next good thing to do in Ghandruk visit the gurung museum there are two museums old and new you can visit anyone and can explore the ancient lifestyle of gurungs, you can see traditional dresses,weapons,utensils,ornaments of the gurung community. You can also wear traditional gurung dress available for both men and women and take some good pictures to show your good friends back at home.

3) Try local foods and listen live traditional Panche Baja 

- You must try local foods of the hilly region of nepali people, Nepali Thali set , Ghundruk , Dhido and special Gurung Bread with potato curry . There are hotels which can offer continental foods but I would advise to eat local food during your ghanduk stay.

After you explore the village all day and enjoy delicious local food , you can listen live Nepali music of Panche Baja [ set of 5 unique musical instruments ]. You need to ask the hotel to arrange Panche Baja in the evening you have to pay extra money fpr that though but it's worth the experience. Hotels can also arrange local dances if you like to see them. We payed NPR 5000 for the Panche Baja [ 40.28  USD  ]

Where To Stay and Cost ??

- Ghandruk has a well facilated hotels and local homestays for the tourists. There are many hotels in ghanduk and almost all of them have good basic facilities like Free Wifi, Rooms with Attached restrooms, hot water shower etc. If you want a cheap and best stay I would recommend you to stay in Local Homestays runned by locals of Ghandruk. The cost is minimal incomparison with other well facilated hotels. You can get only basic and local foods in homestays though whereas you can get much more options and other facilities in Hotels.

In Both Homestays you can get good food and lodging packages in cheap rates depending upon your stay time. [ Dinner,room stay,Breakfast ]  

Example: I stayed in a Homestay named cloud 9 Homestay I payed NPR 1500 for [ one night stay including dinner and breakfast ]

Average room cost: NPR 1000-2500 [ 12 to 20 dollar USD ]

Food Cost: Nepali Thali Lunch set costs Rs 400 [ veg] 500 [ non veg ] USD 3/4 dollar 

Price may be different for local and international visitors, peak season and off season . 

Average cost per person in ghandruk let's stay for simple stay and local foods is around Rs 3000-3500 {40 dollar USD  }

Where to get a Bike ??

- If you don't own or have a motorbike with you then you can easily rent a motorbike from rental companies. You can rent a bike from kathmandu or pokhara. There are multiple rental and motorbike touring companies that provides motorbike rental sevices and organise Motorbike tours. Royal Enfield Bikes like classic 350,Himalayan 411 & Dirtbikes like CX,Crossfire are mostly loved by Tourists for touring.

Royal Enfield Classic 350: Average price  Rs 2500-3000 per day [ 25/30 USD ]

Himalayan 411: Rs 5000-6000 per day [ 50 USD ]

Crossfire 250: Rs 6000 -7000 per day [ 60 USD ]

FINAL VERDICT AND SOME TIPS:

Motorbike Riding is a fun Experience here in Nepal  giving an unique feeling of adventure and freedom of travel. Ghandruk is one of the shortest & easy bike ride destination for you if you are in pokhara or planning to visit pokhara [ Best tourism city here in Nepal ] . Make sure to have a decent bike riding experience and wear proper riding gears . Also i recommend you to take a guide with you for easy and support during your ride.
